0Labs vs. TryHackMe & HackTheBox
Last updated: October 14, 2026
If you're a training company, bootcamp, or enterprise evaluating where to run hands-on cybersecurity labs, you'll almost certainly end up comparing against TryHackMe and HackTheBox — they're the two biggest names in the space, for good reason. This page is an honest attempt to explain where they're genuinely the better choice, and where 0Labs solves a different problem they don't.
The short version
TryHackMe and HackTheBox are consumer platforms: an individual learner signs up, pays (or uses the free tier), and learns under their brand, inside their community. They have years of content, huge libraries, and large learner communities — if you're a solo learner, they're excellent, and 0Labs doesn't try to compete with that.
0Labs is infrastructure for a businessthat wants to run its own training program — own logo, own domain, own certificates — without building the lab engine, terminal, grading, and certification system itself. It's a different buyer, solving a different problem.
Side by side
| TryHackMe / HackTheBox | 0Labs | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it's built for | Individual learners | Training companies, bootcamps, enterprises |
| Whose brand the learner sees | Theirs | Yours — your logo, your domain |
| Certificates | Issued under their brand | Issued under your brand, with a public verify link + QR code |
| Content library size | Large — years of accumulated rooms/challenges | Smaller, growing — built around real isolated-container labs per domain |
| Candidate hiring assessments | Not the core product | Built in — one-time link, real target, scored report |
| Live CTF events | Yes (their own events) | Yes — host your own, under your brand, real-time scoreboard |
When TryHackMe or HackTheBox is the right call
If you're an individual learner, or a small team just wanting access to a huge existing library under someone else's brand with no setup — they're genuinely the better, cheaper choice. We mean that honestly, not as a hedge.
When 0Labs is the right call
If you're a training company or bootcamp that needs students to see your brand throughout, issue certificates under yourname, and you don't want to spend months building Docker-isolated labs and a certification system yourself — that's exactly what 0Labs is built for. Same real-container isolation model, under your own domain.
